Subsection 1: General provisions

Associate practitioner status applies to practitioners who, with a view to practising the profession of doctor, odontologist or pharmacist in France, are required by this code or by other legislative or regulatory provisions to complete a skills consolidation programme or an adaptation period, as well as the practitioners mentioned in articles R. 4111-38 and R. 4221-14-6.

Associate practitioners perform preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic functions and, where appropriate, medical biology procedures. Holders of a diploma in pharmacy perform either the duties defined in articles L. 5126-1 et seq. or duties related to the speciality for which they are completing the skills consolidation programme or the adaptation period. No person may be covered by the present statute : 1° If he does not enjoy his civic rights in the State of which he is a national ; 2° If he has been convicted of an offence incompatible with the performance of his duties.
