Where, in respect of the same crime, several committal orders have been issued against different defendants, the President may, either of his own motion or at the request of the Public Prosecutor, order the joinder of the proceedings. Such joinder may also be ordered where several committal orders have been issued against the same defendant for different offences.

Where the committal order relates to several unrelated offences, the president may, either of his own motion or at the request of the public prosecutor, order that the accused be immediately prosecuted for only one or some of these offences.

When, as a result of a severance of proceedings, an appeal or any other cause, the assize court is seised only of the referral to it of one or more defendants, solely for an offence connected with a crime, it shall rule without the assistance of jurors.

The President may, either of his own motion or at the request of the Public Prosecutor, order the postponement to a later session of cases which do not appear to him to be fit to be tried during the session on whose roll they are entered.
