Paragraph 4: Provisions specific to bariatric surgery

The practice of bariatric surgery, mentioned in 3° of the I of article R. 6123-202, requires access at all times to equipment and instruments adapted to the care of patients suffering from obesity.

The authorisation holder ensures continuity of care and contributes to the development of the personalised care programme for obesity patients treated as part of the bariatric surgery activity. It has an organisation for the care pathway for patients suffering from obesity who have undergone surgery.

The medical staff mentioned in 1° of article D. 6124-271 is made up of doctors specialising in visceral and digestive surgery with proven experience in the practice of bariatric surgery, including at least one doctor with proven university training in the practice of bariatric surgery.

I.-The holder of the authorisation for bariatric surgery must enlist the support of the multidisciplinary consultation mentioned in article R. 6123-211: 1° At least one of the doctors specialising in visceral and digestive surgery mentioned in article D. 6124-289; 2° A doctor with training in endocrinology-diabetology-nutrition or hepato-gastro-enterology; 3° A doctor specialising in psychiatry or a psychologist; 4° A dietician; 5° If necessary, a physiotherapist or a professional with training…
