The necessary devices to allow access to all parts of the flue and ventilation ducts must be installed and maintained in good working order to allow maintenance and sweeping operations.
In the case of individual fireplaces and appliances, maintenance and sweeping are carried out at the occupant’s initiative, unless otherwise stipulated in the lease. In the case of collective fireplaces and appliances, maintenance and chimney sweeping are carried out at the initiative of the owner, the co-owners’ association or, if an agreement so provides, the building operator. Chimney sweeping and maintenance are carried out by a professionally qualified person in accordance with the provisions of article L. 121-1 du code de l’artisanat.
