Article 1029 of the French Civil Code

The executor shall take any precautionary measures useful for the proper execution of the will.

He may cause an inventory of the estate to be made, in the manner provided for in Article 789, whether or not in the presence of the heirs, after having duly summoned them.

He may cause the furniture to be sold if there are insufficient liquid assets to pay the urgent debts of the succession.

L’exécuteur testamentaire prend les mesures conservatoires utiles à la bonne exécution du testament.

Il peut faire procéder, dans les formes prévues à l’article 789, à l’inventaire de la succession en présence ou non des héritiers, après les avoir dûment appelés.

Il peut provoquer la vente du mobilier à défaut de liquidités suffisantes pour acquitter les dettes urgentes de la succession.
