Article 123 of the French Civil Code

Extracts of the application for a declaration of absence, after having been endorsed by the public prosecutor, shall be published in two newspapers circulated in the department or, where applicable, in the country of the domicile or last residence of the person who has remained without giving any news.

The court to which the application is referred may also order any other publicity measure in any place where it deems it useful.

These publicity measures shall be carried out by the party submitting the application.

Des extraits de la requête aux fins de déclaration d’absence, après avoir été visés par le ministère public, sont publiés dans deux journaux diffusés dans le département ou, le cas échéant, dans le pays du domicile ou de la dernière résidence de la personne demeurée sans donner de nouvelles.

Le tribunal, saisi de la requête, peut en outre ordonner toute autre mesure de publicité dans tout lieu où il le juge utile.

Ces mesures de publicité sont assurées par la partie qui présente la requête.
