Article 1234 of the French Code of civil procedure

The family council is convened by the guardianship judge.

It is convened as of right if requested:

1° Either by two of its members;

2° Either by the tutor or subrogated tutor;

3° Or by the minor himself aged sixteen or over;

4° Or by the protected adult.

The family council is also convened at the request of the minor who is under sixteen years of age and capable of discernment, unless the judge gives a specially reasoned decision to the contrary.

Le conseil de famille est convoqué par le juge des tutelles.

Sa réunion est de droit si elle est requise :

1° Soit par deux de ses membres ;

2° Soit par le tuteur ou le subrogé tuteur ;

3° Soit par le mineur lui-même âgé de seize ans révolus ;

4° Soit par le majeur protégé.

Le conseil de famille est également convoqué à la demande du mineur âgé de moins de seize ans et capable de discernement, sauf décision contraire spécialement motivée du juge.
