Article 1445 of the French Civil Code

The application and the judgment of separation of property must be published under the conditions and under the sanctions provided for by the Code of Civil Procedure.

The judgment pronouncing separation of property shall go back, as regards its effects, to the day of the application.

A mention of the judgment shall be made in the margin of the marriage record and on the original of the marriage contract.

La demande et le jugement de séparation de biens doivent être publiés dans les conditions et sous les sanctions prévues par le code de procédure civile.

Le jugement qui prononce la séparation de biens remonte, quant à ses effets, au jour de la demande.

Il sera fait mention du jugement en marge de l’acte de mariage ainsi que sur la minute du contrat de mariage.
