However, the judicial police officers may not conduct interviews or confrontations with the persons under investigation. They may only interview civil parties or assisted witnesses at their request.
The examining magistrate may travel, without being assisted by his clerk or having to draw up a report, to direct and control the execution of the letter rogatory, provided that he does not himself carry out any investigative acts. During this transport, he may order the extension of police custody ordered under the letters rogatory. In all cases, mention of this transport is made on the documents executing the letters rogatory.
