Article 1819 of the French Civil Code

The lessee alone benefits, as in the case of simple livestock, from the milking, manure and work of the animals.

The lessor is only entitled to half of the wool and growth.

Any agreement to the contrary is null and void, unless the lessor is the owner of the tenant farm of which the lessee is a farmer or sharecropper.

Le preneur profite seul, comme dans le cheptel simple, des laitages, du fumier et des travaux des bêtes.

Le bailleur n’a droit qu’à la moitié des laines et du croît.

Toute convention contraire est nulle, à moins que le bailleur ne soit propriétaire de la métairie dont le preneur est fermier ou métayer.
