Article 1845 of the French Civil Code

The provisions of this Chapter shall apply to all civil companies, unless derogated from by the special legal status to which some of them are subject.

All companies to which the law does not attribute another character by reason of their form, nature, or object shall be civil companies.

Les dispositions du présent chapitre sont applicables à toutes les sociétés civiles, à moins qu’il n’y soit dérogé par le statut légal particulier auquel certaines d’entre elles sont assujetties.

Ont le caractère civil toutes les sociétés auxquelles la loi n’attribue pas un autre caractère à raison de leur forme, de leur nature, ou de leur objet.
