Article 21-14-1 of the French Civil Code

French nationality is conferred by decree, on a proposal from the Minister of Defence, on any foreigner serving in the French armed forces who has been wounded on a mission during or on the occasion of an operational engagement and who applies for it.

In the event of the death of the person concerned, under the conditions set out in the first paragraph, the same procedure is open to their minor children who, on the day of their death, met the residence condition set out in article 22-1.

Article 21-14-1

La nationalité française est conférée par décret, sur proposition du ministre de la défense, à tout étranger engagé dans les armées françaises qui a été blessé en mission au cours ou à l’occasion d’un engagement opérationnel et qui en fait la demande.

En cas de décès de l’intéressé, dans les conditions prévues au premier alinéa, la même procédure est ouverte à ses enfants mineurs qui, au jour du décès, remplissaient la condition de résidence prévue à l’article 22-1.
