Article 211-84 of the French Cinema and Moving Image Code

Direct allocations are granted in addition to the sums invested by production companies for the preparation of feature-length cinematographic works when the following conditions are met:
1° At least 80% of the cost of the preparatory work is incurred in France, up to a maximum of 160% of the combined amount of the sums invested and the direct allocations;
2° The preparatory work relating to conception, adaptation and writing gives rise to the preparation of literary and artistic documents written or expressed in French or in a regional language used in France.

Des allocations directes sont attribuées en complément des sommes investies par les entreprises de production pour la préparation d’œuvres cinématographiques de longue durée lorsque les conditions suivantes sont remplies :
1° Les travaux de préparation font l’objet de dépenses effectuées en France pour au moins 80 % de leur coût, dans la limite exigible de 160 % du montant cumulé des sommes investies et des allocations directes ;
2° Les travaux de préparation portant sur la conception, l’adaptation et l’écriture donnent lieu à l’élaboration de documents littéraires et artistiques écrits ou exprimés en langue française ou dans une langue régionale en usage en France.
