Article 223-16 of the French Cinema and Moving Image Code

Aid for the distribution of works intended for young audiences is awarded in consideration of :
1° The artistic quality of the cinematographic works presented, the distribution forecasts and conditions announced, the efforts planned in terms of exhibiting the works in cinemas and developing specific documents adapted to the target age group, the promotional work planned, as well as compliance with the commitments made in the aid agreement in respect of the award of previous aid;
2° The size of the company;
3° The financial and legal situation of the company;
4° The proportion of release plans for arthouse cinematographic works actually distributed by the company in at least 175 cinematographic establishments during the year preceding the application, devoted to establishments located in urban units of less than 50,000 inhabitants and communes not belonging to an urban unit, in relation to the following reference proportions:

– 17% for arthouse cinematographic works shown in 175 to 250 cinemas at the time of their national release;
– 25% for arthouse cinematographic works shown in more than 250 cinemas at the time of their national release.

Article 223-16

Les aides à la distribution d’œuvres destinées au jeune public sont attribuées en considération :
1° De la qualité artistique des œuvres cinématographiques présentées, des prévisions et conditions de distribution annoncées, des efforts prévus en termes d’exposition des œuvres en salles et pour l’élaboration de documents spécifiques adaptés à la tranche d’âge ciblée, du travail de promotion envisagé, ainsi que du respect des engagements souscrits dans la convention d’aide au titre de l’attribution d’aides précédentes ;
2° De la taille de l’entreprise ;
3° De la situation financière et juridique de l’entreprise ;
4° De la part des plans de sortie des œuvres cinématographiques d’art et d’essai effectivement distribuées par l’entreprise dans au moins 175 établissements de spectacles cinématographiques au cours de l’année précédant la demande, consacrée à des établissements situés dans les unités urbaines de moins de 50 000 habitants et les communes n’appartenant pas à une unité urbaine, au regard des proportions de référence suivantes :

– 17 % pour les œuvres cinématographiques d’art et d’essai présentes dans 175 à 250 établissements lors de leur sortie nationale ;
– 25 % pour les œuvres cinématographiques d’art et d’essai présentes dans plus de 250 établissements lors de leur sortie nationale.
