Article 234 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

In the départements where a court of appeal sits the assises are ordinarily held at the chief town of that court.

In other départements, assises are ordinarily held at the chief town of these constituencies.

Exceptionally, a decree of the Conseil d’Etat may fix the seat of the assize court in another town of the department where there is a judicial court.

Dans les départements où siège une cour d’appel les assises se tiennent ordinairement au chef-lieu de cette cour.

Dans les autres départements, les assises se tiennent ordinairement au chef-lieu de ces circonscriptions.

Exceptionnellement, un décret en Conseil d’Etat peut fixer le siège de la cour d’assises dans une autre ville du département où existe un tribunal judiciaire.
