Article 242 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The assize court is, at the hearing, assisted by a court clerk.

In Paris and in the departments where a court of appeal sits, the duties of the registry are performed by a director of judicial registry services or a registrar of the court of appeal.

In other departments, they are performed by a director of judicial registry services or a registrar of the judicial court.

La cour d’assises est, à l’audience, assistée d’un greffier.

A Paris et dans les départements où siège une cour d’appel, les fonctions du greffe sont exercées par un directeur des services de greffe judiciaires ou un greffier de la cour d’appel.

Dans les autres départements, elles le sont par un directeur des services de greffe judiciaires ou un greffier du tribunal judiciaire.
