If, because of absences or following striking off by the court, there remain, on the session list, fewer than twenty jurors or, when during the session the assize court must rule on an appeal, fewer than twenty-three jurors, this number is completed by the substitute jurors, in the order in which they are entered; in the event of insufficiency, by jurors drawn by lot, in open court, from among the jurors entered on the special list, alternatively from among the jurors of the town entered on the annual list.
In the event that the assizes are held in a place other than that in which they are usually to be held, the number of titular jurors shall be completed by a draw made, in open court, from among the jurors of the town entered on the annual list.
The names of alternate jurors, those entered on the special list and the names of jurors from the town where the assizes are to be held, who are entered on the annual list, shall be struck from the lists under the conditions laid down in the preceding article.
