However, when French nationality can only have its source in filiation, it is held to be established, unless proven otherwise if the person concerned and whichever of his father and mother has been likely to transmit it to him have consistently enjoyed possession of French status.
The French nationality of persons born in Mayotte, who were of age on 1 January 1994, will be subsidiarily held to be established if these persons have consistently enjoyed possession of French status.
For a period of three years from the publication of the loi n° 2006-911 du 24 juillet 2006 relative à l’immigration et à l’intégration, for the application of the second paragraph of this article, persons of full age on 1 January 1994 who prove that they were born in Mayotte shall be deemed to have constantly enjoyed possession of the status of French national if they also prove that they were registered on an electoral roll in Mayotte at least ten years prior to the publication of the aforementioned Act no. 2006-911 of 24 July 2006 and that they provide proof of habitual residence in Mayotte.
