The curator or tutor is appointed by the judge.
The judge may, in consideration of the situation of the protected person, the abilities of the persons concerned and the size of the assets to be administered, appoint several curators or several tutors to jointly exercise the protective measure. Each curator or tutor is deemed, with regard to third parties, to have received from the others the power to carry out alone those acts for which a tutor would require no authorisation.
The judge may divide the protective measure between a curator or tutor responsible for the protection of the person and a curator or tutor responsible for the management of assets. He may entrust the management of certain assets to a deputy curator or guardian.
Unless the judge has decided otherwise, the persons appointed pursuant to the preceding paragraph are independent and are not responsible to each other. They shall, however, inform each other of the decisions they take.
