The Police Court is seised of offences within its jurisdiction either by referral to it by the investigating court, or by the voluntary appearance of the parties, or by summons issued directly to the accused and the person civilly liable for the offence.

Le tribunal de police est saisi des infractions de sa compétence soit par le renvoi qui lui en est fait par la juridiction d’instruction, soit par la comparution volontaire des parties, soit par la citation délivrée directement au prévenu et à la personne civilement responsable de l’infraction.
