Article 538 of the French General Tax Code

New works deposited with manufacturers and dealers with a view to sale and used works which the said manufacturers have received on deposit, for whatever reason and in particular for repair, must also be entered in this register, under the conditions laid down in article 537, at the time of entry and at the time of exit.

Inclusion in the register of used timepieces bearing the current hallmarks is not, however, compulsory.

Article 538

Les ouvrages neufs déposés chez les fabricants et marchands en vue de la vente et les ouvrages usagés que lesdits fabricants ont reçus en dépôt, à quelque titre que ce soit et notamment pour réparation, doivent également être inscrits sur ce registre, dans les conditions prévues à l’article 537, au moment de l’entrée et au moment de la sortie.

L’inscription sur le registre des articles d’horlogerie usagés revêtus des poinçons courants n’est toutefois pas obligatoire.
