Article 585 of the French Civil Code

Natural and industrial fruits, hanging by branches or roots at the time when the usufruct is opened, belong to the usufructuary.

Those which are in the same state at the time when the usufruct ends belong to the owner, without reward on either side for ploughing and sowing, but also without prejudice to the portion of the fruits which could be acquired by the tenant farmer, if one existed at the beginning or cessation of the usufruct.

Les fruits naturels et industriels, pendants par branches ou par racines au moment où l’usufruit est ouvert, appartiennent à l’usufruitier.

Ceux qui sont dans le même état au moment où finit l’usufruit appartiennent au propriétaire, sans récompense de part ni d’autre des labours et des semences, mais aussi sans préjudice de la portion des fruits qui pourrait être acquise au métayer, s’il en existait un au commencement ou à la cessation de l’usufruit.
