Article 654 of the French Civil Code

There is a mark of non-citizenship when the top of the wall is straight and plumb with its facing on one side, and has a sloping plane on the other.

When again there is only on one side or a coping or stone fillets and corbels which would have been put there when building the wall.

In these cases, the wall is deemed to belong exclusively to the owner on whose side the coping or stone corbels and fillets are.

Lors encore qu’il n’y a que d’un côté ou un chaperon ou des filets et corbeaux de pierre qui y auraient été mis en bâtissant le mur.

Dans ces cas, le mur est censé appartenir exclusivement au propriétaire du côté duquel sont l’égout ou les corbeaux et filets de pierre.
