Article 663 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

Where two investigating judges, belonging to the same court or to different courts, are simultaneously seised of related offences or different offences in respect of which the same person or the same persons are under investigation, the public prosecutor may, in the interests of the proper administration of justice and notwithstanding the provisions of the articles 43,52and 382, request one of the judges to relinquish jurisdiction in favour of the other. The judges may relinquish jurisdiction if they agree. In the event of disagreement, the provisions of article 664 shall apply, where appropriate.

Lorsque deux juges d’instruction, appartenant à un même tribunal ou à des tribunaux différents, se trouvent simultanément saisis d’infractions connexes ou d’infractions différentes en raison desquelles une même personne ou les mêmes personnes sont mises en examen, le ministère public peut, dans l’intérêt d’une bonne administration de la justice et nonobstant les dispositions des articles 43,52 et 382, requérir l’un des juges de se dessaisir au profit de l’autre. Le dessaisissement a lieu si les juges en sont d’accord. En cas de désaccord, il est fait application, s’il y a lieu, des dispositions de l’article 664.
