Article 706-27 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

Within the jurisdiction of each court of appeal, one or more assize courts, the list of which shall be determined by decree, shall have jurisdiction to try the crimes referred to in Article 706-26 and related offences. For the trial of defendants who have reached the age of majority, the rules relating to the composition and operation of the assize court are set by the provisions of l’article 698-6.

For the application of the preceding paragraph, the investigating chamber, when it issues the indictment in accordance with the first paragraph of Article 214, finds that the facts fall within the scope of Article 706-26.

Dans le ressort de chaque cour d’appel, une ou plusieurs cours d’assises dont la liste est fixée par décret sont compétentes pour le jugement des crimes visés à l’article 706-26 et des infractions qui leur sont connexes. Pour le jugement des accusés majeurs, les règles relatives à la composition et au fonctionnement de la cour d’assises sont fixées par les dispositions de l’article 698-6.

Pour l’application de l’alinéa précédent, la chambre de l’instruction, lorsqu’elle prononce la mise en accusation conformément au premier alinéa de l’article 214, constate que les faits entrent dans le champ d’application de l’article 706-26.
