Persons against whom there are no plausible grounds for suspecting that they have committed or attempted to commit an offence and who are likely to provide evidence relevant to the proceedings may, with the authorisation of the public prosecutor or investigating judge, declare the address of the police station or gendarmerie brigade as their domicile. If the person has been summoned because of his profession, the address declared may be his business address. The authorisation of the public prosecutor is not required when the testimony is given by a person who is a representative of public authority or has a public service mission for facts of which he or she has knowledge by virtue of his or her duties or mission and the address declared is his or her professional address.
The personal address of these persons is then entered in a register, opened for this purpose and kept in paper or digital format.
