Article 78-1 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The application of the rules laid down in this chapter is subject to the control of the judicial authorities referred to in articles 12 and 13.

Any person on national territory must agree to submit to an identity check carried out under the conditions and by the police authorities referred to in the following articles.

Article 78-1

L’application des règles prévues par le présent chapitre est soumise au contrôle des autorités judiciaires mentionnées aux articles 12 et 13.

Toute personne se trouvant sur le territoire national doit accepter de se prêter à un contrôle d’identité effectué dans les conditions et par les autorités de police visées aux articles suivants.
