Article 836 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

In New Caledonia and the Wallis and Futuna Islands, the criminal court ruling as a panel is completed by two assessors under the conditions set out in the Code of Judicial Organisation.

In the Wallis and Futuna Islands, one or two of the judge assessors of the criminal court may be judges from the jurisdiction of the Noumea court of appeal connected live to the courtroom by an audiovisual means of communication, in order to take part in the debates and deliberations.

En Nouvelle-Calédonie et dans les îles Wallis et Futuna, le tribunal correctionnel statuant en formation collégiale est complété par deux assesseurs dans les conditions prévues au code de l’organisation judiciaire.

Dans les îles Wallis et Futuna, l’un ou deux des juges assesseurs du tribunal correctionnel peuvent être des magistrats du siège du ressort de la cour d’appel de Nouméa reliés en direct à la salle d’audience par un moyen de communication audiovisuelle, afin de participer aux débats et au délibéré.
