Article 92 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The investigating judge may visit the scene to make any useful observations or carry out searches. He shall notify the public prosecutor, who may accompany him.

The investigating judge is always assisted by a court clerk.

He shall draw up a record of his operations.

Le juge d’instruction peut se transporter sur les lieux pour y effectuer toutes constatations utiles ou procéder à des perquisitions. Il en donne avis au procureur de la République, qui a la faculté de l’accompagner.
