Article 93 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

If the needs of the investigation so require, the examining magistrate may, after giving notice to the public prosecutor of his court, travel with his clerk throughout the national territory, in order to carry out all investigative acts, on condition that he gives prior notice to the public prosecutor of the court within whose jurisdiction he is travelling. He shall state the reasons for his transport in his report.

Si les nécessités de l’information l’exigent, le juge d’instruction peut, après en avoir donné avis au procureur de la République de son tribunal, se transporter avec son greffier dans toute l’étendue du territoire national, à effet d’y procéder à tous actes d’instruction, à charge par lui d’aviser, au préalable, le procureur de la République du tribunal dans le ressort duquel il se transporte. Il mentionne sur son procès-verbal les motifs de son transport.
