Article 98-2 of the French Civil Code

A single record may be drawn up bearing statements relating to the birth and the marriage, unless the birth and the marriage have already been established by records entered in a register kept by a French authority.

It takes the place of both a birth record and a marriage record.

Un même acte peut être dressé portant les énonciations relatives à la naissance et au mariage, à moins que la naissance et le mariage n’aient déjà été constatés par des actes portés sur un registre conservé par une autorité française.

Il tient lieu à la fois d’acte de naissance et d’acte de mariage.
