Article D29 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The President may designate one of the Vice-Presidents or judges of the court to replace him in the exercise of the functions provided for in Article D. 28, one of the vice-presidents or judges of the court.

Failing designation, he is replaced, in the event of absence, by the vice-president or judge of the highest rank, present at the court.

Le président peut désigner, pour le remplacer dans l’exercice des fonctions prévues à l’article D. 28, l’un des vice-présidents ou des juges du tribunal.

A défaut de désignation, il est remplacé, en cas d’absence, par le vice-président ou le juge du rang le plus élevé, présent au tribunal.
