Article D3121-18 of the French Labour Code

The right to compulsory time off in lieu is deemed to have arisen as soon as the duration of this time off, calculated in accordance with article L. 3121-38, reaches seven hours. The day or half-day during which the rest is taken is deducted from the entitlement to rest in respect of the number of hours that the employee would have worked during that day or half-day.

Compulsory time off in lieu is taken within a maximum period of two months following entitlement, subject to the provisions of articles D. 3121-21 and D. 3121-22.

Le droit à contrepartie obligatoire en repos est réputé ouvert dès que la durée de ce repos, calculée selon les modalités prévues à l’article L. 3121-38, atteint sept heures. La journée ou demi-journée au cours de laquelle le repos est pris est déduite du droit à repos à raison du nombre d’heures de travail que le salarié aurait accompli pendant cette journée ou cette demi-journée.

La contrepartie obligatoire en repos est prise dans un délai maximum de deux mois suivant l’ouverture du droit sous réserve des dispositions des articles D. 3121-21 et D. 3121-22.
