Article D3171-1 of the French Labour Code

When all the employees in a workshop, department or team work to the same collective timetable, a timetable drawn up according to the legal hour indicates the times at which each period of work begins and ends.
No employee may be employed outside this timetable, subject to the provisions of articles L. 3121-30, L. 3121-33, L. 3121-38 and L. 3121-39 relating to the annual overtime quota, and the hours of permanent derogation provided for by a decree issued in application of article L. 3121-67.

Lorsque tous les salariés d’un atelier, d’un service ou d’une équipe travaillent selon le même horaire collectif, un horaire établi selon l’heure légale indique les heures auxquelles commence et finit chaque période de travail.
Aucun salarié ne peut être employé en dehors de cet horaire, sous réserve des dispositions des articles L. 3121-30, L. 3121-33, L. 3121-38 et L. 3121-39 relatives au contingent annuel d’heures supplémentaires, et des heures de dérogation permanente prévues par un décret pris en application de l’article L. 3121-67.
