Article D43-3 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The President of the Examining Magistrates’ Chamber shall inform each Examining Magistrate within the jurisdiction of the Court of Appeal of the designation of the referral magistrate for this Chamber chosen by him or her to be specifically responsible for ensuring the administrative monitoring of this judge’s chambers and for exercising, as far as he or she is concerned, all or part of the powers provided for by the articles 220 to 223. To this end, the President may delegate all or part of his powers pursuant to the third paragraph of article 219, where he or she has not designated himself or herself as the Referring Magistrate.

Le président de la chambre de l’instruction informe chaque juge d’instruction du ressort de la cour d’appel de la désignation du magistrat référent de cette chambre par lui choisi pour être spécialement chargé d’assurer le suivi administratif du cabinet de ce juge et d’exercer, en ce qui le concerne, tout ou partie des attributions prévues par les articles 220 à 223. A cette fin, le président peut déléguer à un ou plusieurs conseillers de la chambre tout ou partie de ses pouvoirs en application du troisième alinéa de l’article 219, lorsqu’il ne s’est pas lui-même désigné comme magistrat référent.
