Article D46-2 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

For the application of the provisions of Article 555-1, the notification made to a detained person by the head of the prison, which is equivalent to service, may be carried out by any official placed under his authority and having been designated by him for this purpose.

Pour l’application des dispositions de l’article 555-1, la notification effectuée auprès d’une personne détenue par le chef de l’établissement pénitentiaire et qui vaut signification peut être réalisée par tout fonctionnaire placé sous son autorité et ayant été désigné par lui à cette fin.
