Article D5134-7 of the French Public Health Code

The decision to administer emergency contraception is preceded by an interview with the student, whether she is a minor or an adult.

The purpose of this interview is to enable the nurse to assess whether the student’s situation corresponds to the cases of emergency mentioned in the third paragraph of I of article L. 5134-1. The medicinal product is administered in accordance with the conditions of use laid down in the marketing authorisation.

On each occasion, the student is informed that emergency contraception is not a regular method of contraception and that it may not be effective in all cases. The student is also informed that this medication cannot be administered repeatedly and that its use cannot be trivialised.

When the indications for the medication no longer allow emergency contraception to be administered, the student is referred to a family planning or education centre, a health establishment or a general practitioner or gynaecologist in the event of delayed menstruation.

La décision concernant l’administration d’une contraception d’urgence est précédée d’un entretien avec l’élève, qu’elle soit mineure ou majeure.

Cet entretien a pour but de permettre à l’infirmière ou à l’infirmier d’apprécier si la situation de l’élève correspond aux cas d’urgence mentionnés au troisième alinéa du I de l’article L. 5134-1. L’administration du médicament est conforme aux conditions d’utilisation prévues par l’autorisation de mise sur le marché.

Chaque fois, il est indiqué à l’élève que la contraception d’urgence ne constitue pas une méthode régulière de contraception et qu’elle peut ne pas être efficace dans tous les cas. L’élève est également informée que ce médicament ne peut lui être administré de manière répétée et que son usage ne peut être banalisé.

Lorsque les indications du médicament ne permettent plus l’administration d’une contraception d’urgence, l’élève est orientée vers un centre de planification ou d’éducation familiale, un établissement de santé, un médecin généraliste ou gynécologue en cas de retard de règles.
