Article D524 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The application for conditional release falling within the jurisdiction of the sentence enforcement judge must be examined within four months of its submission, in accordance with the provisions of article D. 49-33.

Those under the jurisdiction of the parole enforcement court must be examined within six months of their submission, in accordance with the provisions of article D. 49-36.

Failing this, the sentenced person may apply directly to the enforcement division of the court of appeal, by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt or in accordance with the procedures set out in article 503.

La demande de libération conditionnelle relevant de la compétence du juge de l’application des peines doit être examinée dans les quatre mois de son dépôt, conformément aux dispositions de l’article D. 49-33.

Celle relevant de la compétence du tribunal de l’application des peines libération conditionnelle doit être examinée dans les six mois de son dépôt, conformément aux dispositions de l’article D. 49-36.

A défaut, le condamné peut directement saisir de sa demande la chambre de l’application des peines de la cour d’appel, par lettre recommandée avec demande d’accusé de réception ou selon les modalités prévues à l’article 503.
