Article L110-4 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

Without prejudice to European Union law, Book II of this Code governs the entry, residence and expulsion of European Union citizens, foreign nationals assimilated to them and foreign nationals who are members of their family or who have private and family ties with them.
European Union citizens and the foreign nationals referred to in the first paragraph exercise the right of asylum under the conditions laid down by the same Book II.
The provisions of the other Books apply to them only under the conditions specified by Book II and reiterated in each of the other Books.

Sans préjudice du droit de l’Union européenne, le livre II du présent code régit l’entrée, le séjour et l’éloignement des citoyens de l’Union européenne, des étrangers qui leur sont assimilés ainsi que des étrangers membres de leur famille ou entretenant avec eux des liens privés et familiaux.
Les citoyens de l’Union européenne et les étrangers mentionnés au premier alinéa exercent le droit d’asile dans les conditions prévues par le même livre II.
Les dispositions des autres livres ne leurs sont applicables que dans les conditions précisées par le livre II et rappelées dans chacun des autres livres.
