Article L1111-3-1 of the French Public Health Code

When patients are discharged from a health care establishment, they receive a document informing them, under conditions defined by decree, of the cost of all services received, indicating the proportion covered by their compulsory health insurance scheme and, where applicable, the proportion covered by their supplementary insurance organisation, and the balance to be paid.

Pour toute prise en charge effectuée par un établissement de santé, le patient reçoit, au moment de sa sortie, un document l’informant, dans des conditions définies par décret, du coût de l’ensemble des prestations reçues avec l’indication de la part couverte par son régime d’assurance maladie obligatoire et, le cas échéant, de celle couverte par son organisme d’assurance complémentaire et du solde qu’il doit acquitter.
