Article L1130-2 of the French Public Health Code

The examination of somatic genetic characteristics consists of searching for and analysing genetic characteristics whose inheritance or transmissibility is initially unknown. When the results of the examination of somatic genetic characteristics are likely to reveal characteristics referred to in Article L. 1130-1 or make it necessary to carry out examinations referred to in the same Article, the person is invited to attend a consultation with a doctor qualified in genetics for treatment under the conditions laid down in Chapter I of this Title. The person shall be informed of the possibility of such referral before an examination intended to analyse his somatic genetic characteristics and likely to reveal constitutional genetic characteristics is carried out.

Article L1130-2

L’examen des caractéristiques génétiques somatiques consiste à rechercher et à analyser les caractéristiques génétiques dont le caractère hérité ou transmissible est en première intention inconnu. Lorsque les résultats des examens des caractéristiques génétiques somatiques sont susceptibles de révéler des caractéristiques mentionnées à l’article L. 1130-1 ou rendent nécessaire la réalisation d’examens mentionnés au même article, la personne est invitée à se rendre à une consultation chez un médecin qualifié en génétique pour une prise en charge réalisée dans les conditions fixées au chapitre Ier du présent titre. La personne est informée de la possibilité d’une telle orientation avant la réalisation d’un examen destiné à analyser ses caractéristiques génétiques somatiques et susceptible de révéler des caractéristiques génétiques constitutionnelles.
