Article L1225-50 of the French Labour Code

The employee shall inform his employer of the starting point and duration of the period during which he intends to take either parental leave or a reduction in his working hours.

Where this period immediately follows maternity leave or adoption leave, the employee shall inform the employer at least one month before the end of such leave. Otherwise, the information is given to the employer at least two months before the start of the parental leave or part-time work.

Le salarié informe son employeur du point de départ et de la durée de la période pendant laquelle il entend bénéficier soit d’un congé parental d’éducation, soit d’une réduction de sa durée du travail.

Lorsque cette période suit immédiatement le congé de maternité ou le congé d’adoption, le salarié informe l’employeur au moins un mois avant le terme de ce congé. Dans le cas contraire, l’information est donnée à l’employeur deux mois au moins avant le début du congé parental d’éducation ou de l’activité à temps partiel.
