Article L1233-15 of the French Labour Code

When the employer decides to dismiss an employee for economic reasons, whether as an individual or as part of a mass redundancy scheme involving less than ten employees within the same thirty-day period, he shall notify the employee of the dismissal by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt.

This letter may not be sent less than seven working days from the scheduled date of the prior redundancy interview to which the employee has been summoned.

This period is fifteen working days for the individual dismissal of a member of management staff mentioned in 2° of article L. 1441-13.

Lorsque l’employeur décide de licencier un salarié pour motif économique, qu’il s’agisse d’un licenciement individuel ou inclus dans un licenciement collectif de moins de dix salariés dans une même période de trente jours, il lui notifie le licenciement par lettre recommandée avec avis de réception.

Cette lettre ne peut être expédiée moins de sept jours ouvrables à compter de la date prévue de l’entretien préalable de licenciement auquel le salarié a été convoqué.

Ce délai est de quinze jours ouvrables pour le licenciement individuel d’un membre du personnel d’encadrement mentionné au 2° de l’article L. 1441-13.
