The mission and status of the Ecole des Hautes Études en Santé Publique are defined in article L. 756-2 of the French Education Code, reproduced below:
Art. L. 756-2 -The Ecole des Hautes Études en Santé Publique, a public establishment of a scientific, cultural and professional nature, is placed under the supervision of the Ministers of Health, Social Affairs, Higher Education and Research. Its mission is to
1° To provide training for people who have to carry out managerial, management, inspection or control functions in the health, social or medico-social fields, particularly those under the responsibility of the Minister for Health and the Minister for Social Affairs;
2° To provide higher education in public health; to this end, it runs a national network to encourage the pooling of resources and activities of the various public and private bodies involved;
3° To contribute to public health research activities;
4° To develop international relations in the fields mentioned in 1°, 2° and 3°, in particular through exchanges with establishments offering comparable courses.
The conditions under which the Ecole des Hautes Études en Santé Publique carries out its missions and the specific rules governing its organisation and operation are laid down by decree in the Conseil d’Etat under the conditions provided for in Article L. 717-1.
