Article L1424-60 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

The public establishment may exercise, at the discretion of the local authorities and public establishments that make it up, the following powers and duties, with a view to contributing to the protection of Mediterranean forests and their environment:

1° Experimenting with, leasing, acquiring and managing equipment and materials, as well as setting up an order group between its members in order to coordinate and group purchases;

2° In liaison with the relevant competent bodies, the training of the various personnel and agents involved in the protection of Mediterranean forests and civil safety, in particular professional and volunteer firefighters;

3° Informing and raising public awareness;

4° Carrying out studies and research;

5° Implementing new technologies.

L’établissement public peut exercer, au choix des collectivités territoriales et des établissements publics qui le constituent, les compétences et attributions suivantes, en vue de concourir à la protection de la forêt méditerranéenne et de son environnement :

1° L’expérimentation, la location, l’acquisition et la gestion d’équipements et de matériels, ainsi que la constitution entre ses membres d’un groupement de commandes afin de coordonner et grouper les achats ;

2° En liaison avec les organismes compétents en la matière, la formation des différents personnels et agents concernés par la protection de la forêt méditerranéenne et la sécurité civile, en particulier les sapeurs-pompiers professionnels et volontaires ;

3° L’information et la sensibilisation du public ;

4° La réalisation d’études et de recherches ;

5° La mise en oeuvre de nouvelles technologies.
