Before and after the voluntary interruption of pregnancy, adult women are systematically offered a consultation with a person who has completed a qualifying course in marital counselling or any other qualified person in a family information, consultation or counselling establishment, a family planning or education centre, a social service or another approved body. This prior consultation includes a personal interview during which the woman concerned is given assistance or advice appropriate to her situation.
For unemancipated minors, this prior consultation is compulsory and the organisation concerned must issue a consultation certificate. If she expresses the wish to maintain secrecy with regard to the holders of parental authority or her legal representative, she must be advised on the choice of the adult mentioned in article L. 2212-7 who is likely to accompany her in this process.
The staff of the organisations mentioned in the first paragraph are subject to the provisions of articles 226-13 and 226-14 of the French Penal Code.
Whenever possible, the couple shall participate in the consultation and in the decision to be taken.
