Article L2213-26 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

The mayor prescribes that the sweeping of ovens, furnaces and chimneys in houses, factories, etc.,

The mayor orders, if necessary, the repair or, if necessary, the demolition of ovens, furnaces and chimneys whose state of disrepair would give rise to fear of fire or other accidents.

The rules prescribed by Chapter I of Title I of Book V of the Construction and Housing Code are applicable in the event of repair or demolition.

Le maire prescrit que le ramonage des fours, fourneaux et cheminées des maisons, usines, etc., doit être effectué au moins une fois chaque année.

Il ordonne, s’il y a lieu, la réparation ou, en cas de nécessité, la démolition des fours, fourneaux et cheminées dont l’état de délabrement ferait craindre un incendie ou d’autres accidents.

Les règles prescrites par le chapitre Ier du titre Ier du livre V du code de la construction et de l’habitation sont applicables en cas de réparation ou de démolition.
