Article L2223-38 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

The purpose of funeral chambers is to receive, prior to burial or cremation, the bodies of deceased persons.

The premises where the undertaking or association managing the funeral home offers the other services listed in Article L. 2223-19 must be separate from those housing the funeral home.

A violation of the provisions of the previous paragraph is punishable by a fine of 75,000 euros.

Les chambres funéraires ont pour objet de recevoir, avant l’inhumation ou la crémation, le corps des personnes décédées.

Les locaux où l’entreprise ou l’association gestionnaire de la chambre funéraire offre les autres prestations énumérées à l’article L. 2223-19 doivent être distincts de ceux abritant la chambre funéraire.

La violation des dispositions de l’alinéa précédent est punie d’une amende de 75 000 euros.
