Article L2543-4 of the French General Code of Local Authorities

The municipal council may pass taxes to cover expenditure required by the current needs and obligations of the municipality.

These taxes may be:

1° Additional charges to the taxes mentioned in 1° of a of article L. 2331-3;

2° Consumption taxes in accordance with existing laws.

The method of collection is the subject of tax regulations.

Le conseil municipal peut voter des impôts pour couvrir les dépenses nécessitées par les besoins courants et les obligations de la commune.

Ces impôts peuvent être :

1° Des impositions additionnelles aux impôts mentionnés au 1° du a de l’article L. 2331-3 ;

2° Des impôts de consommation conformément aux lois existantes.

Le mode de perception fait l’objet de règlements fiscaux.
