Article L262-1 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

Foreign nationals whose situation is governed by this book may be placed under house arrest under the conditions and according to the procedures laid down:
1° In 1° of article L. 731-1 and 1° of article L. 731-3, when they are subject to a decision requiring them to leave French territory taken in application of article L. 251-1;
2° Au 2° de l’article L. 731-1 et au 2° de l’article L. 731-3, lorsqu’ils font l’objet d’une interdiction de circulation sur le territoire français prise en application de l’article L. 251-4.

Article L262-1

Les étrangers dont la situation est régie par le présent livre peuvent être assignés à résidence dans les conditions et selon les modalités prévues :
1° Au 1° de l’article L. 731-1 et au 1° de l’article L. 731-3, lorsqu’ils font l’objet d’une décision portant obligation de quitter le territoire français prise en application de l’article L. 251-1 ;
2° Au 2° de l’article L. 731-1 et au 2° de l’article L. 731-3, lorsqu’ils font l’objet d’une interdiction de circulation sur le territoire français prise en application de l’article L. 251-4.
